We were approached by Notesmaster to help design and develop an educational platform to bring digital educational tools accessible by all - no matter if school was reachable or not - as was the case for some remote communities.

We faced the challenges of diverse technical abilities of the users, fragmented device coverage, minimal internet access plus the needs of educators to cover both full syllabuses, and the day-to-day functions of running classes.

The platform recently won the World Summit Award for Innovation, and is currently used by over 100,000 users in the Caribbean, Namibia, Botswana, Kenya, Malawi and Tanzania.

Branding

The brand assets were created after a brainstorming workshop process and instilled the core business values.

The palette, logotype, iconography and imagery were rolled out across multiple media formats, both print and digital.

UX Solutions

One of the key challenges was solving the problem of registration and authentication of large amounts of users with potentially limited technical skills and access to hardware and data. The solution was to provide printable codes which teachers could associate to students, allowing quick and easy access to the platform.

 

We are incredibly pleased with our stakeholder response to the product design and with the clarity, simplicity and good design that Sandbar brought to the process.
